The great serpent king Slith wandered across the lands on the way to his lair. His destination not yet reached, he laid his tired body down in the warm waters of the Ravenous Sea and fell into a deep sleep. He slept for hundreds of years, and while he did, his body was buried by the sands until only his bony spine was visible above the sea. His spine split the sea into two and became a causeway, a path that runs between the two new seas. To this day, he sleeps on, unaware of the little people that wandered over his back to make lives on the other side.
Every hundred years, the serpent begins to wake from his slumber. If he were to wake, the lives of all who make a precarious living here would be doomed. To keep him sleeping, every hundred years, a songsmith is sent across the causeway to sing the serpent back into his deep slumber.
You are the songsmith, and you compose your song, gathering words as you travel along the causeway.
