Purple Reaping is a narrative role-playing game in the Sword and Sorcery Horror setting. Players portray heroes (called Actors) summoned by a particular fateweaver (the Singer) to carry out a specific mission in a world where every form of life survives with the constant risk of being overwhelmed by the nefarious influence of a quiescent entity that literally hovers above their heads, the Purple Sun, and of the creatures already infected and shaped by it, both as victims or as volunteers in exchange for part of its power.
It uses the Crisis System, a narrative game system that allows players to not only narrate the actions of their characters, but also the consequences of their actions and how the world reacts to them. The question is not whether or not their endeavors will be successful, but whether they will be able to withstand the stress and scars that the trials they face will leave on them.
